How to Balance
Parenting with a Professional Career
No doubt both parents are excited about becoming
new parents. If you've take time off work or taken vacation to
care for the new baby, when it comes time to go back to work,
both of you will be concerned about how you will be able to
juggle work and parenting.
Parenting is a Career Within
Itself!
Some parents opt to
be stay-at-home moms or dads because they that the long
term commitment to child raising is also a full time
career.
However, if neither parent can give up their careers to
become stay at home parents, then you will be forced to come up
with some way to provide childcare.
Many companies now provide onsite day care centers for their
employees. That would be your best option. In that way
you would be able to see the child during breaks and lunch
time.
If child care isn't available at your place of employment,
then the next best option is to find a family member who would
be willing to help out.
This is a a solution because it will give you piece of mind
to know the child is being cared for by someone you trust.
Also, your child woould have an opportunity to form bonds with
other members of their family.
Unfortunately, this is sometime not an option, either
because no family members are nearby or they simply cannot help
because of their own restrictions.
Without either of these options, you will have to consider
other daycare options such as a daycare center, a trusted baby
sitter, or a nanny.
Nannies are considered to be full time employees, and as
such, this is an expensive solution. However, allowing the
child to remain in your home does have advantages, such as
reduced exposure to other children's illnesses and colds
that are passed from child to child in daycare centers.
Regardless of what you decide, set aside as much time as
possible to spend with your child.
